Your Gratitude Burst – 2010 09 18
“No matter what accomplishments you achieve, somebody helped you.”
– Althea Gibson
When was the last time you thought about (or even thanked) someone that helped you accomplish something? All your achievements, large and small, where never fully completed alone.
I remember when I was in high school, personal computers were just coming out. The Apple ][+, the Commodore Pet, and of course, the TRS-80. There was a computer game that was supposed to really make you think (I cannot think of the name; I think it was, “The Prisoner.”). No instructions came with it, but you had to figure it out. It kept repeating, “No man is an island.” I never understood what that meant back then.
That phrase surely fits in with today’s quote! You are not by yourself. You had help. You had a teacher along the way. Maybe you physically completed a task solo, but the groundwork was laid by the teachings, guidance, instruction, or assistance from someone earlier in your life.
Give thanks to them when you accomplish something. If you can identify who your helper was, all the better – do it personally. If not, give some general thanks to those who paved the way for your accomplishment
Be not afraid to show your gratitude!
Be Well.
Paul.
