Your Gratitude Burst – 2010 09 26

“Gratitude is a duty which ought to be paid, but which none have a right to expect.”

– Jean-Jacques Rousseau quotes

You have a duty to be grateful. You have a duty to be grateful to yourself and towards others.

Gratitude should be given freely towards others (and towards things), but you should never expect gratitude from someone else. You need to be worthy to receive it. You need to ‘do something’ in order for someone to be grateful FOR you.

When you do a kind act towards others, you should be doing it without expectations. If you hold a door open for someone, do not expect a ‘Thank You’ and more importantly, do not get upset if your action goes unacknowledged!

Kind gestures which are paid or performed are gifts; these gifts do not require repayment. Let go of any exceptions when you do them.

However, you should honor them when they are performed for you by someone else.

Be Well.

Paul.
