Gratitude for the Ability To Help Out

Have you ever realized that gratitude can pop up when you least expect it? When it does, your day simply brightens up for no other reason. What a pleasant feeling that is!

I received an email during the week from the National Marrow Donation Program. I have been on the list of potential bone marrow donors for many, many years. Approximately 10 years ago I was called for follow-up tests to see if I was a match. The tests to determine if someone is a match can be expensive, so unless you reach a certain level of matching, tests are held off. At that point I was grateful to potentially help out. I had some blood work drawn but unfortunately, I was  not a match.

Gratitude-btmAs I mentioned, last week I received an email letting me know that once again, I may be a match! I had a brief follow-up phone call to discuss my health, and needed to fill out a questionnaire online. Just to have the possibility of helping someone else fills me with gratitude. At this point there is a 10% chance of being a match. In 2 weeks I will know for sure – don’t worry, I will keep you all updated 🙂

When was the last time you helped someone out? Have you ever helped someone out and they did not even know it? Sometimes, that is the best feeling you can get! You can read this gratitude post for one way that I have helped anonymously in the past. I suggest that you try it at least once – you just might enjoy it!

Be Well.
