Your Gratitude Burst – 2010 11 20

“Both abundance and lack exist simultaneously in our lives, as parallel realities. It is always our conscious choice which secret garden we will tend… when we choose not to focus on what is missing from our lives but are grateful for the abundance that’s present — love, health, family, friends, work, the joys of nature and personal pursuits that bring us pleasure — the wasteland of illusion falls away and we experience Heaven on earth.”

– Sarah Ban Breathnach

Last night I had a great time and stayed over with my sister and her family. We are celebrating my niece’s birthday this weekend, so rather than drive up in the morning, I decided to hang out with them all night.

This is just an easy example to show how you can be grateful for family (and friends) even if they are not geographically close to you. Instead of ‘complaining’ that they are so far away, I focus on the times when we can get together. When we do, I try to make
my stay as long as possible.

With regards to my niece, Instead of saying, “Wow! I can’t believe she is 15 – where does the time go?” which would indicate a thought of lack and being out of control, I actually wrote in her birthday card, “I hope this is your best year yet!” – a thought that is forward thinking and much more positive.

Life is full of choices. Pick the ones that help you the best! Pick the ones that will serve you in a way that will bring you gratitude, happiness, and joy!

Be Well.
