Learn to Expect, Not to Doubt.
Learn to expect, not to doubt. In so doing, you bring everything into the realm of possibility.
This does not mean that by believing you are necessarily going to get everything you want or think you want. Perhaps that would not be good for you. When you put your trust in God, He guides your mind so that you do not want things that are not good for you or that are inharmonious with God’s will. But it does definitely mean that when you learn to believe, then that which has seemingly been impossible moves into the area of the possible. Every great thing at last becomes for you a possibility.
William James, the famous psychologist, said, “Our belief at the beginning of a doubtful undertaking is the one thing (now get that – is the one thing) that ensures the successful outcome of your venture.” To learn to believe is of primary importance. It is the basic factor of succeeding in any undertaking. When you expect the best, you release a magnetic force in your mind, which by a law of attraction tends to bring the best to you. But if you expect the worst, you release from your mind the power of repulsion, which tends to force the best from you. It is amazing how a sustained expectation of the best sets in motion forces, which cause the best to materialize.
The Power of Positive Thinking – Norman Vincent Peale
Paul, what beautiful writing, and so concise. There are various scriptures that say things like, “it is done unto you as you believe.” and conversely, “you have not because you ask not”. How often we have waved away blessings that are trying to arrive, b/c we were not ready, did not feel worthy, or literally couldn’t believe it. Thanks for a great post!
That is definitely true, Kebba. When we expect the best, the best will definitely come for us. We must always ready our hearts with blessings.
I experienced this after my stroke. No one could tell me that I couldn’t recover. I was upset when anybody had doubts. I expected to be ok, and then I was. Thanks for this post.
That’s great to know, Cheryl! What you did was awesome. Do not let anyone discourage you to recover. Stay safe. Be well!
The people who built the field of Dreams must have had the same mindset 🙂
The law of attraction is a powerful thing.
It is indeed a powerful thing. Tamara.
Great reminder about Norman Vincent Peale. Thanks for the share.
You are welcome, Roy! And thank you for your comment, as always. Stay well!
