Excellent News!
This morning while I was at work, I received a text message from a friend. It read:
“Got a raise! ‘The Firm continues to rely on your excellent work and your dedication…’
That made my day! Anyone who saw me the following 10 minutes would have seen me beaming from ear to ear. By the look of things, they would have thought it was ME who got the raise!
I was just so happy for his good fortune, that I was not even thinking thoughts such as, “I hope I get a raise,” or, “Darn! He got one… I didn’t get one.” There is no need to feel competitive when it comes to success or gratitude. There is plenty to go around – some would say more than enough! This reminds me of the song lyrics of Burt Bacharach:
“What the world needs now is love, sweet love
I never bought into that idea.
I think that the world is full of love. What the world really needs is more people to experience all the love that exists.
