Lending a Helping Hand

This evening after work, I spent a few hours with a friend helping him set up a blog (such as this one) for his church. I am not sure who was more surprised at how much there is to do/know in order to install and configure the blog. They say the best way to learn something is to teach it; well, I learned a little more tonight!

Since I have started this blog, I used to do thing very methodical and step by step to make sure that I did things correctly. Think back on when you first learned to drive. The amount of concentration you had to have to  ensure you were doing everything completely correct was probably a lot more intense than you have driving now. I think back to when I was learning how to drive… Hands at 10 & 2 o’clock. Check the rear view mirror. No radio on. Scanning the road every 5 seconds. There was soo much to think about. But now, it is second nature. I get in, and go!

Well, the same happened tonight. I had to think step by step when needed to be done, what settings should be set, and when all was said and done, I think he got a great lesson đŸ™‚ The next step is to follow up and make sure he is comfortable with the new material!

I am grateful that I was able to help out. My initial intention was to simply help him, provide some guidance, and to teach him. In turn, I learned a little bit more than I started, which is a good thing. When you go with the spirit of helping, you will get something back, esp. if you are not expecting anything.

What a pleasant surprise!

Be Well.
