What Oprah Knows About the Power of Gratitude

There is always something that you can be grateful for.

You can start by just saying,

I am grateful for my breath.

Oprah knows that if you don’t have anything to be thankful for, you should start by just being grateful for your breath. Focus on the good you have, not the lack of it, because whatever gets your attention will increase the energy of gratitude. That’s how joy rises.

What are you grateful for today?

For over 20 years I have been having trouble sleeping.
Today I’m grateful for a pretty good night’s sleep. Woke up around 4am but managed to fall back asleep soon.
I’m also grateful for not having big plans today, allowing me to write.

    Happy Weekend!

No big plans today is a good thing. Same here. The weather is atrocious, 22 degree temps with a strong wind so wind chill in the single digits. Plan to focus on writing and doing some cleaning. A great way to spend a Saturday. Good luck with your writing.

I love a good Saturday relaxing, reading, or maybe binge-watching a good series. Sundays are also good for that as well.

Glad you got a good night’s sleep! It certainly affects me when I do not get enough. I think sleep is something that a lot of people take for granted because they can sleep. It is only when they do NOT get a good night’s sleep that they realize it.

Had a quote from Oprah taped to my bedroom mirror for years about being appreciative of the things one has. Your post made me wonder where it was placed after my move. May have to go see if I can put my hands on it. Been a while since I have seen it.

You can always create a different one. Or a different quote from her, or someone else!

I am always grateful for my family! I love many things, I have passions and hobbies, I like material things…I am a human, but the most important is my family…I am grateful for it and praise God for keeping them healthy!

Family is so important! I agree!

I have always tried to be grateful for the little things that we often forget about. Like being able to walk and smell the flowers.

It is the little things that make life wonderful. It is good to take note of what those are and be grateful for them! Thanks for sharing!

Paul, I love that Oprah took up the torch of gratitude some years ago. I am *grateful* that she popularized the idea of a gratitude journal. I teach that the surest route to joy is through gratitude, and you’ve said it so well. I am *grateful* that you promote gratitude!

    • Paul on January 23, 2022 at 3:23 pm

It is easy to promote it! This is a passion of mine!
