I am in a gratitude, zen-kind of mood lately. Although… I think by saying that, I cannot be that. Oh well! Here is another short story that teaches so much even though it is a very short story! I love when such a little teaches so much!
A university professor went to visit a famous Zen master. While the master quietly served tea, the professor talked about Zen.
The master poured the visitor’s cup to the brim, and then kept pouring.
The professor watched the overflowing cup until he could no longer restrain himself.
“It’s overfull! No more will go in!” the professor blurted.
“You are like this cup,” the master replied, “How can I show you Zen unless you first empty your cup.”
Does this story have any significance to you? What can you learn from it? Can you express your gratitude if you were in a similar situation? Are you expressing your gratitude? Have you expressed it? Inquiring minds want to know!
Leave a comment with your thoughts. And, if you do not want to see any more of these stories, let me know also! I can take the good, the bad, and the ugly!
