The Good Fairy
Many people think that Gratitude, this blog, the Law of Attraction, “The Secret,” and other “new age-y things” are full of baloney. If you can’t see it, then it must not exist. Well, the same person should say the same thing about electricity! You cannot really see electricity, but it is there.
Young children are more open and willing to accept things that they cannot see. I think that people grow more skeptical as they are hardened with age. It is based on all the criticism they receive growing up (but that is for another post at another time!)
Everything is energy. We are energy. Our thoughts are energy. The monitor on which you are reading this post is energy. The more energy something has, the more concrete it becomes. This is what occurs when the power of positive thinking is married with taking action. When you feel your thoughts on an emotional level, you will resonate at a higher level of vibration, which will cause the Law of Attraction to kick in nice and strong.
What is the Law of Attraction? The Law of Attraction is based on three steps, and if you skip any of them, it doesn’t work:
1. Know what you want and ask the universe for it.
2. Feel and behave as if the object of your desire is on its way.
3. Be open to receiving it.
Thinking back to my earliest application of this law, I find that it was first taught to me (in a roundabout way) by my father when I was very young. I grew up in New York City, Manhattan to be more precise. If anyone lives or drives in NYC, you know that parking is a problem. We would be driving along and need a parking spot! My father would say, “OK – we need a parking spot that is nearby. Put your head down and pray to “The Good Fairy” for a parking spot so we can go into Gimbels.”
What did I know?!?! I put my head down and asked for a parking spot. I knew the Good Fairy was good (it had to be! Good was its first name!), so I knew that we would get a spot. Soon enough, we had a parking spot!
I think this really is the application of the Law of Attraction. As I got older and more skeptical, I stopped believing, and therefore I stopped feeling that it would be true. But, I have come full circle, and now I consciously use it.
By feeling grateful for something that you do not yet have (and acting as if you do have it), you help activate the Law of Attraction. As a result, you will help bring it into your life.
When asked, most people are grateful for things they currently possess, feel, or do. When I wake up in the morning and think of things for which I am grateful, I often feel gratitude for the African Photographic Safari trip that I will take or the bank account balance that will be ten times the current amount there. I am grateful for many things that have yet to materialize in my life. I know they will come! (I have been told I have a one-track mind!)
The next time you are perusing the list of things for which you are grateful, use the Law of Attraction and be grateful for those things which will come your way.

Thank you for giving me so much to think about and for having so many reasons to be grateful! I am grateful for my next art project, now that I have less than a week left in this one (the 61-day index card a day challenge). I don’t yet know what my next art project will loo like. Nevertheless, I am grateful for it!
Wow, that’s nice to know Alice. Good luck with your next art project! Be well.
