What are you grateful for?

Today will be a short, but important post (I think…) If this works out, I promise it will be very, very cool!

Over the past couple weeks, I have started to blog here on AllAboutGratitude.com. As you can probably tell, I am not a professional writer; I am just a person who wants to share some ideas about Gratitude. I have been posting about my gratitude, but now I am looking for your assistance!

If you would like, please leave a comment (long or short) describing something for which you are grateful. As the list grows (and it will grow), I will eventually compile your answers and work on a “Secret Project.” This project will be posted back here in the future. For this to “work” I will need a lot of audience participation!

So, again, please let me know for what, who, where, you are grateful and/or how you express your gratitude. Please leave your comments below.

Be Well.

I am unquestionably grateful that I am back in kindergarten, yes kindergarten. As posted, the little ones truly believe. They are a superhero one minute, princess the next, then 20 minutes later a snack is being planned for the tooth fairy.
I am grateful, that I have this opportunity, to rediscover what I had lost while growing up.
Never crush a dream or say can’t.
It goes without saying that I am grateful for my family and friends.

I am grateful for all the shelter friends in my life! I run a ferret shelter, I have been running this shelter for 14 years. It is my love, my life and my passion!

I could not have accomplished this feat without all the people that have touched our lives. I may run the shelter but I could not have kept it going for all these years without all the humans that have touched our lives in so many ways. Gratitude makes life an adventure with many blessings.

I’m grateful for being able to realize that I’m not grateful enough, and for becoming aware of all the things that keep my heart from being truly loving. And grateful, apart from all that is given to me every day, for those that help & inspire me to open my hand gradually in order to hold a hand that needs holding. And thank you Life for planting that desire in me.

I am grateful that I woke up this morning, live in the USA, can use all my senses, am active and agile, for my family: daughters and grandchildren, for the work I do and the people I meet, for the clients that come in my live sometimes in serendipitious ways. That I listen and can share; that I have the capacity to empower others.

I am grateful to be alive and very capable and very able to work. I am grateful that so many people seem to need me and that I need so many others. I am grateful that my daughters are growing up to be fine human beings who love G-d and life, nature and other people. I am grateful that my parents loved me when I was a child and this love enabled me to know how to love and care for others. I am grateful that my body is strong and my mind is strong and my strength enables me to be able to help others. I am grateful that I have a wonderful man in my life who shares my interests and dreams and who not only is one of the the most gentle and hard-working individuals I have ever known but one of the greatest people I have ever known.

Sooo many things…where to start? I am so grateful for the love of God, for our beautiful children, my husband, parents and many friends. Additionally, our family is so blessed to live in the land of opportunity – the United States of America and I am grateful to have the freedom to make choices on how we make our living, how we worship and how we raise our children.

  41. Brynn on June 24, 2009 at 11:06 pm

My gratitude goes out to the obvious family and friends, but also things taken for granted: hands. The two devises we each possess to interact and manipulate the world around us. Used to create or destroy, but we have the choice.I see them as to other living entities attached to us, with there own personality and movement, unique to us. I’m also grateful to experience what it is like to live inside a body. To think and move and feel, all in one place.

  42. Amy Quigley on June 25, 2009 at 8:54 am

There are many things that I am grateful for, particularly my children and grandson. They are my life and everything that I do is for them and their future.
I am grateful to have had the opportunity to meet so many interesting people over the course of my lifetime. We all have a few treasured friends but the acquaintances tend to make impacts on our lives.
I am very grateful to have met Paul during a very tough time in my life. Although we rarely see each other, he has remained much more than an acquaintance!!
And finally, taken from one of my favorite quotes, I am grateful on a daily basis for “the little things” as the little things in life really mean everything!!!

  43. Choo Choo on June 25, 2009 at 9:17 am

Well now I’m grateful I responded late and read all the other responses, great read. I’m grateful for everything I already have in terms of love, support, friendship and health. I feel lucky with what I have in my life and try to use it to the fullest. In general, we tend to not know what we have until it’s gone so I am grateful for all the good stuff!

I am grateful that there are others out there who are as interested in gratitude and the positive effects it has as I am! I find focusing on just one thing I am grateful for each day (usually more, as I start thinking about it) completely changes my perspective for the better, creating more abundance, and even more things to be grateful for, like a snowball effect! Thanks for creating this blog, it really complements the gratitude poll I am doing on my site!

I am grateful to have a job that gives me so much joy and pleasure. I love the environment, the people and the work I do. I feel blessed each and every day as I know I’m making a difference in a student’s life that would have otherwise been overlooked or ignored. As a 54 year old woman, I am grateful to have finally found my calling!

  49. debbie katz on May 17, 2011 at 6:51 am

Hi Paul! There is so much to be grateful for every day. Health, my husband, where we live, friends, my church family. I am grateful that I had the opportunity to raise my son, who I didn’t meet until he was 4, and I thought I would never be a mom. I am most grateful to God, for sending His Son Jesus to die for our sins and make a way to Heaven. He supplies our needs daily, even when we are not sure what’s coming next, He knows, and I am grateful that I have the faith to trust Him.

I am grateful for life and everything that it has given me. Love, joy, laughter, sadness, hardships, and the ability to learn from them all. I am most grateful for my family and friends. I continue to learn from them each and every day.

  52. Cynthia on May 17, 2011 at 12:20 pm

I have become aware over the years that it is important to be grateful for everything. Good and Bad. Good is easy to be grateful for. Bad, not so easy. But I am grateful for everything because everything is what has brought me to where I am. The Good and the Bad things are all in the past, and for that I am grateful. And I am gratefully looking forward to the future knowing that it too will hold Good and Bad. I am most especially grateful for today because, today, everything is OK.

  53. Rogena Spencer on May 17, 2011 at 12:44 pm

I am grateful to know that “It’s not about me!”. I experience extreme gratitude when I help others even if it is only by lending an ear or a shoulder to cry on. Helping others brings a warm fuzzy feeling inside of me.

  57. Menka on May 17, 2011 at 9:35 pm

Grateful for everything. Such as all ups and downs, colorful sunshine day and just opposite very dark night, beautiful flowers and springs just opposite all leaf fall in the ground, nature, creator, blessing, love, sorrow, pain and pleasure, completely relax and extremely tired, sometimes got a chance to read your blog on time and sometimes couple of days goes by not being able to do so.

It is such a blessing to have all kind of daily experience in life. It helps to realized what is meant to have life. Being able to see and feel to be in this universe is the most precise. I am grateful for anything and everything. Thank you Paul.

I am grateful for my life and for having such and loving and supportive sister and Mother. The greatest gift of all, through which I have been truly grateful, I have never felt alone at difficult times -knowing that there were always by my side.

  59. Melissa on June 19, 2011 at 8:14 am

Today, Father’s Day, I am grateful for a father who taught me so many things…morals, values, and most of all how to laugh. And, I learned these attributes by his example not by his teaching. He was a very special father, husband, son, and friend to everyone. I miss him and think of him as I go through my day to day routine in life. I am also grateful for my family who was there to support me through the last two weeks of stress and craziness…and Kim and Paul, I specifically am grateful for you and your support without question.

  60. Melissa on October 1, 2011 at 4:42 pm

Paul, I remember your burst of today (October 1) all too well. Tomorrow would have been my dear sister Francine’s 70th birthday. I celebrate our time together every day and as time passes I am so grateful I had such a wonderful sister who became my wonderful friend. You were fortunate to have such a special mother in law who loved you dearly for your giant heart and I know you returned that love to her.

    Love, Auntie M

  61. Charlotte on April 16, 2013 at 3:55 pm

At 73, I have finally learned that love is the most important thing in life. In order to work on my spiritual path, I read and read and have found that thinking of gratitude’s contributes to my growth in my path. Understanding that just accepting others as they are is what it’s all a bout.. I’m not responsible for them, just me and it has made a huge impact on my life in acceptance..Gotten rid of the anger, the need to be right at all times, just letting be!!

    • Paul on April 21, 2013 at 8:33 am

Charlotte – Whatever is on your ‘important thing’ list at the moment is the important thing. Everyone’s list changes over time. There is never a point where you ‘finally’ learn one thing or another, because something else may take its place in the future. Enjoy the process.

By the way – You can be happy, or you can be right all the time 😉

      Thanks for stopping by!

  62. Mari on April 16, 2013 at 7:04 pm

I am so very grateful my parents instilled in me (somehow… I wish I knew exactly so i could pass it on now to my own children) resilience and a positive attitude. Sure life gets me down sometimes, but these two qualities ensure I try to make the best of things for me and my family, and means in amongst difficult times I have the ability to stop and notice the rainbows.

    • Paul on April 21, 2013 at 8:37 am

Great observation, Mari! The best way to pass this on to your own children is to lead by example! Keep being resilient and maintain a positive attitude and they will not only pick up on this, but will mimic your behavior.

      Thanks for stopping by!

    Greetings from India !!!!
Trust you doing well. Its great to see you in my inbox.
I am grateful for live, to be alive, family, pets, friends, daily miracles, lessons, love in many shape and sizes, finding good, prayers and prayings, full moons, smiles to name a few.

I am grateful that at the age of 68, I still enjoy everything life has to offer, especially my fiends and family. I laugh until I cry about events in my past when years ago those same events made me cry and not from laughter!

    • Paul on April 21, 2013 at 8:44 pm

“I still enjoy everything life has to offer” – that is awesome, Melissa! I cry about things too.. like when I have to drive to PA – but I get over that when I enjoy your company!
